Hello Anton,

This is Nick Hawkins who graduated from Linganore High School in 1998. You were my interpreter for three years. Still remember me? My friend gave me the website so I just want to drop a message to see how you are doing since then? I know that you are a great runner as you told me about it before. Keep it up!

Guess what? I start to run 3 1/2 to four miles two or three times per week in past several months. I start to enjoy running now. I can write long one but not here in this website, but you can e-mail me at journeygolf@gmail.com so we can get in touch.

Good luck on your future races!

As I read this, I nodded the 'knowing nod of approval' several times. I'm not so old school that I can claim Tim DeBoom and Scott Molina as training partners, but I did do my first IM five seasons ago. Now it seems every other person I meet is training for a tri and they absolutely must have an carbon-ti Italian groupo with full carbon deep dish and disc wheels and titanium frame - to finish mid-pack - and then complain about entry fees. I hope you are right when you state that triathlon is popular now, but it will wane.

Your father was proud to say "This is my son." No greater tribute. Yes, I understand the thought of knowing him before he was our father. However, then he wouldn't have been our dad. Through good times and bad...he was just that...our dad.

Funny, I saw that question and your answer. At first I was like - wow, am I supposed to be thinking about breathing? And then I realized I couldn't even imagine trying to do that if I tried. I'd end up working soooo hard trying to remember to breath I'd probably actually forget to breath.

I'm with you guys - just run.

Good point. It's nice to just run and enjoy it for once - instead of under the pressure of a training schedule.

Congrats on surviving a rough run, Anton! --- good report --- my friend Mary Ewell had a hard time this year at the JFK, her first 50 miler finish ... see http://zhurnal.net/DonQuixote55kRun2007 for my notes on her day (esp. the last 34+ miles of it) ... Mary made it past all the cutoffs and finished with 11+ minutes to spare under the 14 hour deadline ...

See Caren Jew's photos of you at Antietam, at http://www.flickr.com/photos/21000314@N02/2045387294/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/21000314@N02/2045383668/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/21000314@N02/2045379768/

Again, bravo on your good race, Anton! --- ^z = Mark
